pointlessness XHTML Test Suite

These pages are mostly for me to test how the PHP header statement works and how the various possibilities make different browsers react.

Since it would also be neat for other people to see how their browsers react, I've specified correct behavior for each page. If your browser does something different, then it is broken.

I will likely extend this page as I get more ideas to throw at people's browsers.

• XHTML 1.1 with an application/xhtml+xml content-type
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as XHTML.

• XHTML 1.1 with an application/xml content-type
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as XHTML.

• XHTML 1.1 with a text/xml content-type
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as XHTML.

• XHTML 1.1 with a text/html content-type
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as HTML, results may be unpredictable.

• Broken XHTML 1.1 with an application/xhtml+xml content-type
• Correct behavior: Browser should produce an XML parsing error.

• 'HTML-compatible' XHTML 1.0 Strict with a text/html content-type
• Correct behavior: Page may be rendered either as XHTML or HTML, results may be unpredictable.

• XHTML 1.1 with an application/xhtml+xml content-type and different background colours for 'html' and 'body'
• Correct behavior: Background colour around the text should be black. Background colour for the rest of the page should be grey.

• XHTML5
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as XHTML in standards compliance mode.

• HTML5
• Correct behavior: Page should be rendered as HTML in standards compliance mode.

• Mixed-mode XHTML 1.1/HTML 4.01 Strict
• Correct behavior: Depends on the browser. Good ones should indicate that the page is being displayed as XHTML.
